About This Protocol

Tesamorelin is a stabilized analog of GHRH with a longer half-life than sermorelin due to the addition of a trans-3-hexenoic acid group. An FDA-approved form of tesamorelin exists for HIV-associated lipodystrophy. The compounded version studied here is not FDA-approved for any indication.

Available through licensed TeleWellnessMD® providers in select states. Physician determines protocol based on individual evaluation.

Stabilized GHRH Analog
Tesamorelin's chemical modification provides greater metabolic stability than native GHRH, resulting in a longer active period following injection. This potentially allows less frequent dosing while maintaining pituitary stimulation.
Clinical Research
FDA-approved tesamorelin (Egrifta) was studied in HIV-positive patients with lipodystrophy. The clinical data on visceral fat reduction and IGF-1 elevation from these trials provides a research basis for understanding the compound's physiological effects.
Visceral Fat Research
Clinical trials showed that tesamorelin produced significant reductions in visceral adipose tissue in the studied population. Research has examined this in the context of GH's role in fat metabolism regulation.
Compounded Status
This compounded tesamorelin is not FDA-approved as safe and effective for treatment of any disease or condition. The FDA-approved version exists for a specific indication. The physician determines whether compounded tesamorelin is appropriate for individual patient needs.
