About This Protocol

L-Lysine is an essential amino acid — meaning the body cannot synthesize it and it must be obtained through diet or supplementation. Injectable L-Lysine provides direct systemic delivery at concentrations not achievable through oral supplementation, bypassing GI absorption variables. It plays roles in collagen synthesis, calcium absorption, immune function, and antiviral defense mechanisms.

Available through TeleWellnessMD® licensed physicians in select states (CA, IA, MA, WI). 30mL vial. Physician determines dosing protocol and frequency based on individual assessment.

Collagen Synthesis
L-Lysine is a required precursor for the synthesis of hydroxylysine — a structural component of collagen and elastin. Without adequate lysine, collagen cross-linking is impaired, affecting skin, bone, cartilage, and connective tissue integrity. Research has examined lysine supplementation in the context of collagen formation and wound healing.
Antiviral Research
L-Lysine has been studied for its antagonistic relationship with L-arginine in herpes simplex virus replication. Research published in the journal Dermatologica examined lysine supplementation in subjects with recurrent herpes labialis, finding that higher lysine-to-arginine ratios correlated with reduced recurrence frequency.
Calcium Absorption
Research has examined L-Lysine's role in calcium absorption and retention. Studies have looked at lysine's interaction with calcium transport mechanisms in the intestinal epithelium, suggesting a potential role in bone mineral density support.
Injectable Advantage
Oral L-Lysine absorption varies significantly based on gut health, competing amino acids, and GI transit time. Injectable delivery bypasses these variables, providing reliable systemic availability particularly relevant for patients with GI absorption issues.
