About This Protocol

Glutathione is a tripeptide composed of glutamate, cysteine, and glycine. It is the most abundant endogenous antioxidant in human cells and plays a central role in oxidative stress management, immune function, and hepatic detoxification. Injectable delivery achieves systemic levels not achievable through oral supplementation.

Available through TeleWellnessMD® licensed physicians in select states. Physician determines dosing protocol based on individual assessment.

Antioxidant Function
Glutathione neutralizes reactive oxygen species by donating electrons. The glutathione peroxidase system is one of the primary cellular defenses against lipid peroxidation and DNA oxidative damage. Research has examined its role in reducing systemic oxidative burden.
Detoxification
Glutathione S-transferases catalyze the conjugation of glutathione with xenobiotics and toxins, facilitating their excretion. This hepatic function is central to Phase II detoxification, studied for its role in metabolic waste clearance.
Immune Modulation
Lymphocyte proliferation and natural killer cell activity have been studied in relation to glutathione status. Research published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition has examined glutathione's relationship with immune function.
Oral Bioavailability
Oral glutathione is largely degraded in the GI tract before absorption. Injectable delivery bypasses this limitation, achieving significantly higher plasma levels. Some studies have found oral liposomal forms to have improved bioavailability, but injectable remains the most reliable delivery method.
